                             Communications Director

Hours                          Full time 37.5 Hours per week (Part-time considered for the right candidate)

Salary                         £33,000

Terms                         Permanent contract, subject to successful 6-month probationary review


Scope of the role

mjf is embarking on a fundamental change programme. As recipients of a 66% ACE NPO uplift, we are looking to invest in our brand and communications going forward. We have been long-established and carry a loyal audience, but we acknowledge that the time to develop and build our audiences for the future is now.

For the first time in our history, in 2017, we embark upon a programme of year-round activity; primarily focused around talent development and artist showcasing, the ambition to work outside of festival time sees a shift to our organisational profile.

To help us align our Communications Strategy with our artistic ambition, we have created the new role of Communications Director. The post holder will gain wide-ranging experience as they help shape our future direction and ensure delivery of initiatives that will expand this UK-renowned festival’s place in our contemporary cultural landscape.

This new post looks to:

  • craft and lead our Communications Strategy;
  • collaborate on the future brand with our design agency;
  • build our profile and audiences nationally and beyond the niche of the jazz sector;
  • broaden our PR and media presence;
  • solidify our communications to ensure that we have the right blend of traditional marketing and digital output.
