Volunteer to help support Manchester Jazz Festival and its artists
If you’re interested in helping out before, during or after the festival in any capacity, we’d love to hear from you!
Although sadly there’s no money in it (but we can offer reasonable expenses incurred), it can be a rewarding, exciting and exhausting experience – and of course you get to see lots of music for free, and hang out with the staff and the stars – all lovely people.
There are two main areas of volunteer support: throughout the year, which is office-based and behind-the-scenes but will result in a greater understanding of event organisation; or during the festival itself – which is obviously a more exciting but more demanding period.

How to fill in the form
Availability
Please indicate your availability (days and times) throughout the year or for all of July and early August if you are only interested in helping out during the festival itself.
We need volunteers during the festival, every day from 10am to 10pm, as well as before and after the event, mainly daytime, on weekdays and some weekends, for office, marketing and production tasks.
Volunteer Roles
It’s quite likely that you’ll do a little bit of everything while volunteering with mjf, but you might also want to gain or develop specific skills. Here are the main roles:
- Backstage work (shifting equipment, stage preparations…)
- Press, marketing and promotion (leafleting, web maintenance, networking…)
- Front of house (information stall, ticket collection…)
- Driving (anything – people, gear…)
- Audience research and monitoring
