Mjf is pleased to work with a number of Trusts & Foundations who play a vital role in supporting our development plans and enabling a number of new projects to be realised that otherwise wouldn’t be possible within the confines of our limited core budget.

One example includes support from The Foyle Foundation and The Granada Foundation to realise a major new collaboration with Manchester Literature Festival in 2015.  The world première of ‘An Ape’s Progress’ was a landmark new commission created to celebrate the 20th mjf and the 10th Manchester Literature Festival and brought together three critically acclaimed artists – saxophonist and composer Iain Ballamy, Irish poet and storyteller Matthew Sweeney and Illustrator, photographer, comic book artist and filmmaker Dave McKean collaborated on a unique multi-media performance combining words, music and visual art/film.

We continue to seek support to help us push the artform to new levels and develop community engagement activities aimed at fostering new audiences and encouraging and supporting young, emerging musicians.
